Cast of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah Practice What They Preach

Neela Telefilms comedy show -Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah is one show that not just tickles the funny bone of the viewer, but also advocates moral values without being preachy and in a manner, which is very simple and enlightening. Producer of the show, Asit Kumar Modi, is one of the few who believes in practicing what he preaches.

So, on the occasion of Anti-Tobacco Day the cast of Taarak Mehta teamed up with one of the India’s largest NGOs in tobacco control- ‘Salaam Bombay’. The cast of the show showed its full support to hold up the noble cause of “Smoke-free Mumbai”. They went all out to educate the masses that have been unfortunately caught up in this vicious circle.

Joining in the campaign will be seen Dayaben along with Tapu sena and Taarak- Anjali. They went on the streets and targeted people who were either smoking or chewing tobacco. In a very interesting and informative manner, they explained the ill effects of passive smoking. They were quite successful in spreading the awareness among the people and encouraged them to say “NO” to Tobacco’.

Disha Vakani wins the award for Best Actress in a comedy role

“Hey maa! Mataji”- She’s won an AWARD!!!

The ‘8th Idea Indian Television Academy Awards 2008’ has acknowledged Disha Vakani a.k.a ‘Dayaben’ of the hugely popular and well known series ‘Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah’ on SAB with an award. Disha won the ITA award for the ‘Best Actress in the comic category’ for her role as ‘Dayaben’. The super hit family comedy which airs at 8:30 pm every Monday to Thursday on SAB, prides itself at being a comedy series that gives meaningful insights into everyday problems in a manner which is laced with humor and aimed at keeping families together.

“Hey maa! Mataji” exclaimed a highly energized Disha Vakani as she was presented the award. In the show, Disha has kept viewers enthralled with her histrionics and funny ways. She is known to love her character so much that besides reel life she continues to portray Dayaben in her real life too. Dayaben is now a household name that the viewers look forward to connecting with everyday.

In her speech on receiving the award she continued to be her on-screen character which left the audience in splits. Adding to all the laughter she said, “Dayaben’s character has made me very popular and I completely love my role. I owe my success to the audience, and want to thank them for accepting me and showering me with all their love and affection.”

Disha believes that comedy is the best medium that today’s audience likes to connect with. It takes them away from their daily routine and gives a doze of laughter which helps them forget all their problems or the mundane everyday life.

SAB TV launches a new show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah

Finding a lighter side to all problems in life gives a fresher and positive outlook to living in a chaotic world. SAB not only keeps one family together but knits a full community with its new show that brings a positive perspective to the usual situations of life. Called ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chasmah’, the show revolves around members of a single housing society who face common real life situations. But finding simple solutions and the underlying message of always keeping positive perspective to life, is its highlight. The show will air everyday starting 28th July 2008, Monday to Thursday at 8:30pm only on SAB TV.

The show is based on a popular humor coloumn called ‘Duniya Ne Undha Chasma’ written by the eminent Gujrati writer Taarak Mehta for over 37 years in Chitralekha magazine. His coloumns have a social base with mass appeal that cover topical issues. The show is being produced by Mr.Asit Modi of Neela Telefilms who have made some popular comedy shows like ‘Hum Sab Ek Hain’, ‘Meri Biwi Hain Wonderful’, Yeh Duniya Hai Rangeen’. According to Mr. Asit Modi the show is an amalgamation of topical happening flavored with humor and seasoned with a different perspective of Taarak’s trademark.

Commenting on the launch of the show, Mr. Anooj Kapoor, Business Head SAB said, “In today’s time when you get to see only family feuds in real as well as reel life, the ability to find simple solutions is the key to bind the family together. This is the underlying theme of our show and if SAB contributes even a little towards bringing all family members together and enjoying the show at the same time, it will be a dream come true for us at SAB. The show is a genuine effort to bring Taarak Mehta’s inspiring thoughts to the world”.

The show predominantly revolves around Jethalaal an uneducated Gujrati businessman. He and his family live in Golkuldham Co-operative Society. Taarak Mehta is his neighbour. Jethalaal finds a friend and philosopher in Taarak Mehta and often goes to him for advice whenever he is in trouble. Jethalaal has a wife named Daya Ben and a mischievous son Tapu who is his constant cause of worry. The society members have often warned Jethalaal to reform Tapu or else be prepared to be ousted from the society. After loosing all hope Jethalaal calls his father Champaklal as a last resort, thinking that he might be of help to reforming the mischievous brat. But much to his surprise Champaklal joins hands with the brat and constantly makes life absolutely miserable for Jethalaal.
