Neela Telefilms comedy show -Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah is one show that not just tickles the funny bone of the viewer, but also advocates moral values without being preachy and in a manner, which is very simple and enlightening. Producer of the show, Asit Kumar Modi, is one of the few who believes in practicing what he preaches.
So, on the occasion of Anti-Tobacco Day the cast of Taarak Mehta teamed up with one of the India’s largest NGOs in tobacco control- ‘Salaam Bombay’. The cast of the show showed its full support to hold up the noble cause of “Smoke-free Mumbai”. They went all out to educate the masses that have been unfortunately caught up in this vicious circle.

Joining in the campaign will be seen Dayaben along with Tapu sena and Taarak- Anjali. They went on the streets and targeted people who were either smoking or chewing tobacco. In a very interesting and informative manner, they explained the ill effects of passive smoking. They were quite successful in spreading the awareness among the people and encouraged them to say “NO” to Tobacco’.

Adding to the craziness, another fan, Vivek Tyagi, shaved his head in such a way that he had the STAR PLUS logo on his back head!

While in Lucknow, there was Santosh who was so crazy about Akshara that he actually saved up from his salary and bought her gifts in the hope that he would meet her one day. Akshara was floored that someone would do this for her and was extremely touched.

Godrej Hershey Ltd, one of India’s largest confectionery and food companies and part of the Godrej Group is geared up to launch a new television campaign for ‘Maha Choco’, an extension of Nutrine’s flagship brand Mahalacto. Conceptualized by creative agency JWT and featuring brand ambassador Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the television commercial will be going on air from June 1, 2009.
Directed by Anirudh Sharma, and produced by Dungarpur Films, the two creatives Locker Room and Theatre scene play on the brief “you will do anything to get the candy with the irresistible taste.” The Theatre Ad shows Dhoni swapping irresistible Maha Choco offered by a kid in a theater with the chance to sit with his beautiful girlfriend. The Locker Room commercial shows Dhoni surrendering himself in the taste of Maha Choco losing out on his urgent need of consideration. Both the advertisements clearly demonstrates the brand positioning of ‘Bano Maha Deewane’ with Dhoni going great lengths to get his favourite candy.

Commenting on the brand’s association with Dhoni, Mr. Bobby Agarwal, Executive Officer & Chief Operating Officer, Godrej Hershey Ltd. expressed, “There is a perfect blend between Dhoni and Maha Choco as the Maha attitude, confidence and passion to enjoy every moment in life. As the brand ambassador, he represents the Maha values of a superhero yet boy-next-door, winner, go-getter, entertainer, all-rounder and larger-than-life. Remember ’Silky Kumar,’ the fictional made-up Bollywood star created to communicate the launch of New Axe? The guy who became famous overnight and soon became the flavour of the season and how! The guy in question is Srman Jain, who is currently playing the youngest son Babli in JD Majethia’s, Burey Bhi Hum Bhale Bhi Hum.

The young chap plays a young, budding, Bhojpuri actor in Burey Bhi…..show. Apparently the guy was offered a role in Sony’s new show Bhaskar Bharti, but due to prior commitments to Hats off Productions, he had to let go the offer. But hey no one’s complaining and the guy had this to share with us, “I heard too many good things about Hats off productions and always had the desire to work with them. So, when I was told that my track will be extended, as the show is catching on, I was more than happy to do so.

Chitrapamaa who played Maa in the show titled ‘Maa’ on Zee is one noble soul. Recently she celebrated her two year old daughter, Ariciaa’s, birthday with the children in an orphanage. She brought them lots of goodies and spent time playing and interacting with them till late in the evening. Her daughter who is too young to understand the celebration was so overjoyed to see so many young children around.

Chitrapamaa shares, “I always wanted to celebrate a special occasion of my life with the underprivileged children and finally I’m able to realize it. It’s sometimes best to share your joy with the not so fortunate ones, as it is extremely fulfilling. Incidentally my daughter’s birthday coincides with Mothers day so it was all the more fulfilling for me to be with them on a day like this.”
Well for some people a joy shared is joy doubled!
