Purru Rajkumarr in Veer
Purru Raajkumarr has a small but hugely significant pivotal role in the film Veer. Purru has always been known for choosing his roles very selectively, content even if they are smaller in actual footage, but ensures that he leaves his mark, be it a Mission Kashmir, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, LOC or Umrao Jaan.
“Just being a part of this film has been extremely fulfilling. The chance to work with Salman Khan, whom not just me, but my entire family loves. There’s a cast like Mithun Dada, Jackie Shroff and Sohail Khan. I play Mr. Shroff’s son, which I was extremely ecstatic about”, says an elated Purru.
Progressing with his role, Purru reveals, “The movie is also the story of the clash between the Pindaris and the state. My character has been given to believe that it was the Pindaris who had cheated my father on certain issues and had cut off his hand. I am operating from a certain sense of vengeance. Rather, of avenging my father’s injustice and dishonour, to put it more nobly. It’s a completely positive role. My character has a particular sense of arrogance, about his being a prince. This is, remember, from the 1870s and the kings did not mingle with commoners and the lower classes. Besides avenging his father’s disgrace, and besides being very hot blooded, his sense of right and wrong are in blacks and whites. There are no grey areas. He has been told to do a particular job by his father and shall bring it to fruition, this is his only aim. He doesn’t bring his own mind to it because that’s what his father has told him. And this boy has a great depth of character, seen in the love he has for his family.”
The latest in the line of his much awaited works is Veer, a period story, penned by none other than the hero of the film Salman Khan, the mega epic produced by Vijay Galani - Bollywood News. The film stars an ensemble cast of veterans and youngsters, comprising Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, Purru Raajkumarr, Sohail Khan and new entrants Zarine Khan and Liza Lazarus.
The movie Veer is scheduled for release on January 22, 2010.

I also want to thank the fabulous crew that made this film possible,” said producer Jon Landau. “Avatar asks us to see that everything is connected, all human beings to each other, and us to the Earth. And if you have to go four and a half light years to another, made-up planet to appreciate this miracle of the world that we have right here, well, you know what, that’s the wonder of cinema right there, that’s the magic,” said director James Cameron
The film that has till now grossed over $1.6 billion at the international box office, is now competing with Cameron’s own ‘Titanic’ for the worldwide highest grossing film of all time.

Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge Movie Poster
Bollywood film-makers have time and again been inspired by Hollywood flicks and even best selling novels. But the recent spat between writer Chetan Bhagat and the team of 3 Idiots has led the makers of Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge to ensure that no such controversy is created around their film.
Director Ashwni Dhir, whose ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?’ is inspired by satirist, the late Sharad Joshi’s ‘Tum Kab Jaaoge Atithi’, will be mentioning the author’s name in the opening credits itself - Bollywood News
He confirms, “While penning my film, I had read Sharadji’s piece of work and had therefore, got a letter of consent from Sharadji’s daughter since the titles are similar. The position of credit has not been specified in the letter of consent. Though our team is yet to decide on the position of the creditline, I have no problems crediting Sharadji in the beginning. I am also producing a serial on Sharadji’s works titled Lapataganj: Sharad Joshi Ki Kahaniyon Ka Pata. Here, I have included Sharadji’s name in the title. Giving due credit to an author adds credibility to my project.”
Well, we certainly appreciate this move by the team of ‘Atithi….’ and hope other filmmakers also follow suit.

Seems like audiences are preferring 3D over 3I……
James Cameron’s Avatar seems to be giving stiff competition to 3 Idiots at the box office. While the collections of 3 Idiots in markets like USA, UK & Australia are way too meager to be even considered against those of Avatar, the Hollywood flick is beating 3 Idiots at the local box office too.
According to the latest collection figures of last weekend, Avatar’s (in 3D English) is clearly ahead of 3 Idiots in multiplexes in the Northern belt (predominantly a Hindi speaking market). While the collections of Aamir Khan’s film were reported to be Rupees 24 Lakhs from the 4 major multiplexes where 3D is available, Avatar raced ahead with a collection of around 39 Lakhs. In fact in PVR Select City & PVR Ambience, Avatar (3D) has already grossed a record breaking 1.5 Crores each - Bollywood News
Even in its 4th week of release, Avatar is still ruling the Indian Box Office and having grossed Rupees 83 crores till date, it is all set to become the biggest Hollywood film ever in India. The collections from the 3D screens is more than encouraging – with 54 3D screens (9%) contributing to 35% of the total three week box office collection in India.
Worldwide too, the film has beaten all competition and has now hit the No.2 spot by becoming the highest grossing movie (globally) of all time after Cameron’s own ‘Titanic’.
