Yuvvraaj is a story revolving around today’s youngsters and their attitude towards money and lifestyle over their value for relationships. Set in Europe in modern times, it’s a story of three young children (Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan) of a billionaire father, brought up in three different environments. As a result they develop three distinct and individual personalities. All three of them are very passionate and aggressive to fulfill their own aspirations. The drama unfolds when their world collides with each other and how they play against each other is the most exciting plot presented in this magnum opus by none other than Subhash Ghai!

SYNOPSIS:
A mall security guard (Kiefer Sutherland) becomes wrapped up in a mystery involving a particular department store’s mirrors which seem to bring out the worst in people. Down through the ages, mirrors have always been gateways to other worlds; they have protected us from evil, they have told us the future, and they have told us the truth. Mirrors reflect back at the viewer a glimpse of the human soul. In stories handed down through folk beliefs of generations, and stitched into the fabric of fairy tales and myths worldwide, mirrors have been the gateways to other worlds. Is this a realm inhabited by angels, demons, and spirits of the dead? Or, does it reflect back to the viewer a glimpse of the human soul?

Speaks Director Alexandre Aja “I was looking for a project that would allow me to explore fear in a new way,” says Aja, who established himself as a potent new voice in the horror genre with the hit French slasher film “High Tension” and “The Hills Have Eyes,” his grisly remake of the 1977 thriller about a family’s struggle to survive a brutal massacre by mutant cannibals.

“Everyone has relationship with their reflection,” he muses. “It’s something we don’t really think about, but it’s there. Some people love to look at themselves in the mirror; others hate it. Mirrors can show us the traumas and truths that exist in our subconscious, and are just waiting to be revealed.”

For lead star Kiefer Sutherland, it was the film’s hybrid of well-crafted horror and genuine family drama that spoke to the actor. “Alex told me a beautiful story,” recalls the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor, who first met with Aja to discuss the project after wrapping a long night of shooting his hit FOX TV series “24.” “Horror is a genre that has always intrigued me, but what attracted me to this story is that it deals with a family that is desperately trying to figure out how to come back together. It’s about second chances. In this incredibly drastic situation, a man finds his true self and reconnects with his family. When things are at their worst, he becomes his best. And that really appealed to me.”

MIRRORS uses the power we give to our own self-image as a springboard to explore our subconscious fears. “You can jail yourself in your own idea of who you are, and see things in your reflection that others don’t see – things that don’t really exist,” observes Paula Patton (”Hitch,” “Déjà Vu”), who plays Ben’s estranged wife Amy.

Subhash (Paresh Raval) has spent the last 10 years unsuccessfully trying to get acting parts in films. He makes ends meet by his uncanny ability to think on his feet committing small time cons on unsuspecting victims. One night he saves a man’s life, to do so he puts his own at risk. He accompanies the injured man back home. Subhash is awe struck at the grandeur and affluence of Mr. Adenwalla. (Naseeruddin Shah) Subhash realizes this may lead to a generous tip.

Soon enough Subhash is hired by the grateful Adenwalla as his driver. The wife Mallika Adenwalla (Neha Dhupia) resents Subhash for his proximity to her husband and senses this man taking advantage of her husband. Subhash now firmly ensconced in Adenwallas house and heart discovers his wife’s evil designs. On the other hand, Adenwalla, driven to the point of insanity by his money hungry wife decides to take the ultimate revenge. He puts his wife in a catch 22 situation by throwing down a challenge.

Subhash recognizes this as an opportunity to rid him-self of a life time of middle class mediocrity and poverty. He collaborates with Mallika to acquire all the money and property.Working hand in glove, they get a caretaker (Tara Sharma) with the help of their family lawyer (Boman Irani) to be a witness to an ailing Mr. Adenwallas presence in the house which they concoct their plans.

Several thrilling situations arise in their plan, ranging from false alibis, double-crossing, phony kidnappings to hidden agendas which wreck havoc all around. But even the best laid plans can go awry and this brings ACP Gokhale (Om Puri) and Inspector Borkar (Vivek Shaw) into the picture.

How the scheming Subhash gets trapped in his own lies and how he finally manages to save his skin, forms the crux of the story.

After the amazing response to her latest bollywood movie Golmaal Returns, Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley is all geared up to impress international audiences too. Celina was recently at ‘Hoyts La Premiere’in Auckland (New Zealand) for the Red Carpet Premiere of her first international film ‘Love Has No Language’ along with Australian co-star Ben Mitchell and Rugby star Monty Beetham who apparently was quite taken up by Celina’s Indian beauty.

The pretty actress was floored by all the attention and warmth that she received In New Zealand. Celina seems to have had a lot of fun shooting with her Kiwi co-star Ben Mitchell. Celina also underwent a 20-day training in Kiwi and Australian accents and has received good reviews for her characterization of a Kiwi Indian girl.

The movie is about a Kiwi Indian girl basically a second generation Indian girl born and brought up in New Zealand. Marina Roy (Celina Jaitley) is torn between the values of old Indian traditions and the fact that she is actually a kiwi girl who has never been to India. A kiwi-Aussie boy (Ben Mitchell) of Maori origin falls in love with her and the story follows on how she plans to avoid the marriage set up by her parents with an Indian boy … who is actually gay!

The movie EMI revolves round the central theme ‘Liya Hai To Chukana Padega’, and the merit of the film being the originality of thought on a pertinent subject of getting the goodies of life on loans - personal, home or credit cards. The debutant director Saurabh Kabra has scored a point with a four pronged story.

The movie EMI begins with the first character Ryan (Arjun Rampal) a self employed DJ who aspires and lives life kingsize and is a habitual defaulter. He happens to meet Nancy ( Malaika Arora Khan), at the disc and falls head over heels at her beauty. The flamboyant Ryan wants her in his life.His craving for a life bigger and better gets all the more stronger. With it his credit limits too soar…..

The second character is Prerna ( Urmila Matondkar) an unemployed widow, who is coming to terms with her husbands suicide. Her objective is to get the insurance amount, post which life would be easy for her and her 5 year old daughter. But she has to prove that her husband did not commit suicide which can be done at a price. She gets into personal loan as a quick fix to this and all her pressing needs…..

The third character is that of Anil and Shilpa ( Ashish Choudhary and Neha Uberoi), a working couple who want to begin their lives together entering into sacrament of marriage. But have a long wish list of having their own home, own car, a laptop and most importantly a foreign destination honeymoon. They end up into personal loans, home loans and credit card payments. Everything seems fine till they decide to call off the relationship…..

The fourth character is that of Chandrakant ( Kulbhushan Kharbanda) a retired father and his only son ( Pushkar Jog), who wants to go abroad for further studies because it’s the current trend. The fathers savings are just not enough to fund the son’s dreams and he is forced to consider a education loan as the only way out……..

All of these characters turn up to be defaulters due to unavoidable circumstances which are of their own making. Enter Sattar Bhai ( Sanjay Dutt) owner of Goodluck Recovery Agency the saviour for those caught in debt trap, most sought after by banks, telecom companies and various multinationals. From bhaigiri to business to politics to social work – that’s how Sattar wants to progress in life. Sattar follows a simple rule when it comes to his business – Loan Liya Hai to Chukao and his cronies following the strong arm tactics.
Will Sattar succeed in using this principle while dealing with the disparate characters?

Director Saurabh Kabra has kept a uniform tempo throughout the movie and has been aptly supported by cinematographer Paramvir Singh. Khalid Azmis dialogues fit the bill. Music is not that great, except for the title song sung by Sanjay Dutt.

Sanjay Dutt rules the roost with his performance and has got into the soul of the character. Arjun Rampal is equally good. Ashish Choudhary is also worth a mention. Malaika Arora Khan is sizzling in the dance numbers. Neha Uberoi is okay. Kulbhushan Kharbanda is class act. Manoj Joshi, DayaShankar Pandey and Snehal Dabhi add the requisite masala.

EMI has a synergy with real to life instances; it may seem to take a deviation from facts. But on the whole does convey the fragility of today’s lifestyles based on EMI’s and to borrow responsibly if there be a need.

Hindi Film Fashion Movie Review

With Fashion the director Madhur Bhandarkar churns up yet another close to reality film narrating the intrinsic and the extrinsic facades that rule the fashion industry. Madhur has handled the subject with subtle elegance and there is no doubt why he spins hard hitting films which leave you in a state of awe and hit you below the belt.

Fashion starts of with a small town girl Meghna Mathur (Priyanka Chopra) who aspires to be a supermodel much against the wishes of her parents (Raj Babbar & Kiran Juneja). She has her cup of struggle before walking the ramp and manages to reach the pinnacle of succcess. Success begets arrogance and inturn leads to her downfall. But she is not ready to accept such fate. The structuring of the screenplay and writing by Madhur Bhandarkar, Anuradha Tiwari and Ajay Monga simultaneosly runs the story of three models Meghna (Priyanka Chopra), Shonali (Kangana Ranaut) and Janet ( Mughda Godse). Depicting Meghna’s rise, Shonali’s downfall and Janet’s compromise. At the same moment its throws light on the stark realities which prevail the fashion industry - casting couch, gay designers, wild lifestyles of models, wardrobe malfunctions, the manipulations of head honchos and the attitude issues.

Niranjan Iyengars dialogues are great. Mahesh Limayes cinematography captures the essence of fashion world.The screenplay is near to perfect, except for getting a bit drab at the ending.

Priyanka exudes a terrific performance and could well be one of her best. Kangana Ranaut is a surprise package, except for her short role. Mughda Godse has been greatly confident. Arbaaz Khan is a cool restrained act.Samir Soni has been good. Suchitra Pillai and Kitu Gidwani add the sprinklers with thier presence. Ashwin Mushran and Arjan Bajwa have done pretty well. Raj Babbar and Kiran Junjeja are class act.

Fashion is definitely worth its salt, with Madhur Bhandarkars styling you are sure what you are getting into…….

Amrita Prakash gung-ho about film Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi

The vivacious Amrita Prakash is quite thrilled about her forthcoming film Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi. In the film, she will be seen playing Isha Koppikar’s younger sister- Sandhya. She plays a college going youngster and shares a very close bond with her older sister (Isha) in the film. Amrita, is not new to films and has been earlier seen in films like Vivaah and Tum Bin, believes that a good script and a role that has lot of meat in it would ideally be her choice.

“I have worked with Rajshri Productions for Vivaah almost two years ago. Must admit that I immensely enjoyed working with them, it was a great learning experience. As for now, since Diwali is round the corner, I’m planning to buy a sparkling stone for my mum and a big dial watch for my dad,” chirps Amrita.

Bollywood’s romance with France is slowly on the rise with more and more Indian filmmakers venturing to new, unexplored regions of France. From Paris’s numerous iconic landmarks, to the breathtaking scenery of Frances countryside, to the timeless magic of its monuments, France continues to beckon Bollywood to revisit and truly explore France. The picturesque landscapes testify to typical romantic Bollywood masala reenacted with energetic and romantic dance sequences that are straight out of starlight drama.

Indian commercial cinema is transiting and gearing to take bigger leaps to greater phenomenal success. Recognizing this growing potential and increasing demand for international location shooting, Film France, responsible for promoting film development and production in France, along with Maison de la France organized a trip for the Indian Film fraternity, aptly nicknamed “Sangam Tour” – a tribute to the 1964 masterpiece created by Raj Kapoor, the very first Indian film shot in France. Actors Cross Dress in Movie Golmaal Returns

Golmaal Returns actors Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade cross-dress on Director Rohit Shetty’s call!!! There was a scene in the film that required the guy gang to dress up like women. And it happens to be a Women’s day so they dress up like women to enter the mall, as only women were allowed to enter on that particular day. No wonder the guys got some strange looks from the women folk around, but then no complaining when you are the centre of attraction.

Rohit Shetty shares, “I was quite taken aback when Ajay (Devgan) agreed to this scene in particular. He was very gung-ho to go ahead with the scene!! Infact none of the guys had any reservations, which made it one of the best scenes in the film.”

The film also stars Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora, Celina Jaitley &Anjana Sukhani, and is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak’s Cinevision Limited. The film will hit the theaters this Diwali on 29 th October’08.

Actors Cross Dress in Movie Golmaal Returns

Hindi Film Karzzzz Premiere at Abu Dhabi Film Festival

The only Indian hindi film to have been selected for screening at the Middle East International Film Festival is Bhushan Kumar’s Karzzzz. Karzzzz premiered in grandeur and style at the ‘Emirates Palace’ in Abu Dhabi amidst a lot of excitement and enthusiasm, followed by a gala dinner.

Present at the occasion were producer Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Tulsi Kumar, director of T- Series Ajay Kapoor, Vinod Bhanushali, Gulshan Grover, director Satish Kaushik, Shweta Kumar, Dino Morea, amongst other glitterati and the international media.

Bhushan Kumar, head honcho T Series, said “It is a privilege to have Karzzzz selected as the only Hindi film to be premiered at the Abu Dhabi Film fest. I am sure this is just the beginning for Karzzzz. We still have a long way to go.”

Karzzzz is a film that explores the psychological traits every human being possesses, some of them so powerful that it leads them to commit vices of greed, obsession, hatred, deceit, betrayal, murder……

Set amidst the majestic and breathtaking locales of South Africa, Karzzzz is a remake of the 1980 Subhash Ghai hit “Karz”. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, directed by Satish Kaushik and stars Himesh Reshammiya, Urmila Matondkar, debutante Shweta Kumar, Gulshan Grover, Raj Babbar & Danny Denzongpa.

BIG Music added another feather to its cap with the launch of its latest album – Generations. Legends of Indian music – Ghulam Ali and Asha Bhosle come together after nearly two decades with their latest renditions in the soul stirring album - Generations. Composed by Amir Ali, Ghulam Ali’s son, Generations is a romantic album with light romantic lyrics.

Speaking at the launch, Kulmeet Makkar, CEO, BIG Music & Home Entertainment, said, “It is indeed a great honor for Big Music to release Generations. It is an album filled with soulful melody and emotions. Ghulam Ali and Asha Bhosle are undoubtedly two of the most renowned and established musicians in the industry and we are proud to bring one of their finest works to the listeners.”

The resplendent Asha Bhosle, spoke of her long musical journey and her association with Ghulam Ali. “I began my career in 1943. Ghulam Ali began his musical journey after mine and his son Aamir is just starting his. There are 3 ‘generations’ in this album. Keeping this in mind, BIG Music aptly titled the album ‘Generations’, as it denotes artistes from different times and eras, yet coming together to create what they know best. Soon, the artistes of my generation will take their place in the annals of time. What will remain for future generations is their legacy and dedicated work in musical works like this album. I am happy to be featured on this album and I thank BIG Music for bringing us all together and for keeping melody alive in these dark ages of music. I hope that past, present and future generations appreciate ‘Generations’.

Ghulam Ali too spoke about his favourite artiste, Asha Bhosle, “I wonder how she managed to do so much as an artiste. What Asha Bhosle has achieved in one lifetime is almost like a dream come true for any performer. I have the honour and pleasure of performing with her and always look forward to our musical journey together”.

The 12 track bonanza, Generations features some of the most melodious songs heard in the recent past. Lovers of the sarod and the flute will enjoy songs like ‘Socho Mei Gum Kyoon Hoon’ and ‘Shaam Se’ which is a meditative melody that exhibits the class of the two artists rendering an intricate melody. Music videos of melodic songs like ‘Naina Re’, a glittering composition that befits the vocal talents of Asha Bhosle and Ghulam Ali and ‘Dheere Dheere’ which is a geet-numa ghazal were also launched.

Ghulam Ali’s solo ‘Dil Se’, is a well orchestrated ghazal that talks about the pangs of separation. ‘Ek Lamhe’ is a lament about lost love. Dil Bichadnese’, a traditional Ghazal, delving into a somber mood by Asha Bhosle’s is a master class in vocalizing barring no-holds. ‘Tore Bina’, is like a breath of fresh air with a superb rhythm pattern; a flawless act by the veteran diva.

Himesh Performs Live for Karzzz Curtain Raiser Concert

The multi talented man, Himesh Reshammiya performed live in concert for the Karzzz Curtain Raiser at Andheri Sports Complex. The event that was hosted by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series and Star Plus, was organized and produced by Carving Dreams Live, a division of Carving Dreams Entertainment.

Himesh performed live, along with some of the hottest Bollywood beauties like Ameesha Patel, Neha Dhupia, Amrita Arora, Riya Sen and singers like Tulsi Kumar, Vineet and Akruti Kakkar. The compeers of the evening were the witty Cyrus Broacha and Mona Singh who complimented each other with their funny liners. Some of the guests who had come to watch the concert were Gulshan Grover, Arpita Khan, Sameer, Shweta Kumar and many more.

The packed stadium came up alive with Himesh’s grand entry, who performed last and sang couple of his previous songs unplugged. The surprise element was however a colourfully decorated rickshaw that made an entry on the stage. Having called over kids onto the stage, Himesh was having one ball of a time crooning to songs from his upcoming movie along with the kids that made up as his chorus group!

Although Urmila Matondkar and Satish Kaushik were missing, the rest of the cast and crew of the movie came to cheer their hero.

The concert will be telecast on Star Plus channel.

Split Image Pictures brings together Bollywood and Hollywood to create a feature film with the most stunning, never-before seen effects.

After contemplating and varying on a lot of working titles, the movie starring Mallika Sherwat and Irrfan Khan will now be officially called ‘Hissss’. Produced by Vikram Singh and Govind Menon of Split Image Pictures, being directed by renowned Hollywood director Jennifer Lynch. The movie has been in news lately for its interesting amalgamation of top technicians of Hollywood and the stars of our Bollywood industry.

As the story goes, the movie Hissss is about the vengeance of Naagin,the Snake Woman. George States (Jeff Douchette), a ruthless American travels to the jungles of India and captures her mate. The Naagin transforms into a stunningly attractive woman (Mallika Sherawat) with absolutely no clue about contemporary civilization or the ways of mankind, and ventures into the city in desperate search for her lover with vengeance on her mind and venom in her fangs. What follows is a chase at breakneck speed, with horrifying deaths, narrow escapes with Irrfan Khan chasing down a beautiful sexy killer who is more dangerous, powerful and terrifying.

Director Jennifer Lynch is the daughter of 4 time Oscar nominee and 2 time Cannes film festival winner, David Lynch. Her last film, “Surveillance” was screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2008 to extremely positive reviews and is being commercially released in North America by the end of 2008.

Robert Kurtzman is one of the greatest Special effects and Make Up effects artists in the world today. He has created ground breaking effects in films like “Evil Dead” and “Spy Kids”.

The movie is scheduled to release around mid 2009.

Film Kidnap Movie Review

The director Sanjay Gadhavi after directing some hit movies like Dhoom and Dhoom 2 definitely has faltered with the plot in Kidnap. Kidnap also does find parallels to the flick Zinda in terms of kidnapping theme. The movie Kidnap ignites intial interest, gets on to the waning mode with a lax plot, only to bow out without any fizzle.

The story begins with Sonia (Minnissha Lamba) a defiant and headstrong teenager who stays alongwith her divorced mother Dr. Mallika ( Vidya Malavade) and grand mother ( Reema Lagoo). Just before her eighteenth birthday she is kidnapped, the kidnapper Kabir Sharma ( Imran Khan) does not want ransom, instead he wants to play a game of negotiation with Sonia’s father Vikrant Raina ( Sanjay Dutt). Raina the richest Indian with a net worth of 51.7 billion dollars finds his world shattered. A man not used to taking orders is required to be on the run, follow the kidnappers orders and complete a series of tasks, each of which holds the clue. Each task completed is the only hope of keeping his daughter alive. With the kidnapper practically watching over his every move, one task incomplete and he would lose his daughter forever. All he can do is, try and connect with the clues to find out why this game of one on one. Kabir is a victim of Raina’s ruthless decision when he was 14 years old, which labels him as criminal. Years later Kabir masterminds series of events that force Raina to commit crime. At the end Kabir asks Raina a question, “Does committing a crime make you a criminal”

The director Sanjay Gadhavi has done all with his realms to get the movie going on, but has been let down by the scripting. The writer Shibani Bathija after a promising start has just has deteriorated the storyline to be unexciting and drabbing. The tasks required to get to the clues could have been much better and ditto for the climax. Cinematography by Bobby Singh is awesome. Pritam’s music is not quite there, the songs ‘Mit Jaye’ and ‘Hey Ya’ are okay.

Imran Khan has comfortably eased into the role of the steely kidnapper, emerging a clear winner. Sanjay Dutt has been in the on and off mode, at some places he stands out and at some ….need I say. Minnissha Lamba has done a fair job, but her costumes are a let down considering the fact of her been kidnapped. Vidya Malavade has given a stoic performance. Rahul Dev has been under-ulitised. Reema Lagoo was really not required.

The movie Kidnap definitely has a good theme, starts off well but doesn’t keep up to the expected levels that it possibly could have reached as a movie and also on the box office.

Ultra India Signs Up Marathi Actor Bharat Jadhav

Ultra India has signed up the famous and popular Marathi actor Bharat Jadhav for its upcoming films. He would be essaying a role in all of the five films to be produced by Ultra India.

Bharat Jadhav is a known comedian, particulary in the commercial marathi cinema and the theatre fraternity. He began his acting career in 1985, with the Maharasthrachi Lokdhara dance troupe, under the guidance of Sahir Sable. Sahi Re Sahi is one of his successful plays in marathi theatre ever. Kidnap Movie Cleared By Censor Board

Shree Ashthavinayak Cine Vision Ltd’s forthcoming movie Kidnap starring Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan and Minissha Lamba has been cleared by the Censor Board with UA certificate without even a single cut. The keenly awaited movie releases worldwide on 2nd October 2008 and has been directed by Sanjay Gadhvi of Dhoom fame.

Kidnap marks Imran’s second release after Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and would be shedding off his chocolate boy image, while Minissha is in for an all glam and sexy makeover. The story revolves around how Imran Khan kidnaps Sanjay Dutt’s daughter, played by Minissha Lamba, to settle old scores.

With such an interesting starcast and plot it is likely that the audiences are awaiting the film Kidnap to hit the screens.

It is my story. It is a story of an individual. It is a story of every individual who use public property in their routine run to earn a living and daily bread. Unknowingly the individual is put in a situation where he loses his loved ones, mental peace and more importantly his freedom

Movies like “A Wednesday” should inspire any individual who lives in Mumbai or for that matter any crowded city in the world. “A Wednesday” is a story of “You”, “a common man”, “a stupid common man”, “Aaam Aadmi”.

What happens if a common man takes a pledge to destroy the people who were involved in 1993, 2004 etc bomb blast. The movie catches pace from the very first minute.

First time in my life I have seen applause’s for a movie which is not so common! Naseeruddin Shah (A stupid common man) has done something that was expected from him i.e. a brilliant performance. Anupam Kher (Commissioner Prakash Rathod) has also done justice to the role. Jimmy Shergill, Amir Bashir and Deepal Shaw has done a good job!

I give this movie 10 / 10 for its theme, performance and a feeling of freedom that it gave me and to the audience when they were leaving the theatre!
